So, it all came back to me in a rush last night. It was like unclogging a dried up fountain pen; the drawings were escaping the rigid regime of my mind like a flow of grey ink. Ok, so that was a really bad, mixed up analogy - but it serves it's purpose.

I pencilled 2 whole pages of this new project I'm working on. I started pencilling the next installment of TSLON and fixed up the Gallery page of my new website.

This was all after 9.30pm as I had to watch The O.C. of course.

I nearly drowned on the way to work this morning. It's the end of times I tells yer. Maybe a slight exaggeration, but it's hairy out there, let me tell yer. So wild in fact that the rain kept making my car alarm go off, forcing me to brave the elements to turn the bastard off. Then the wind nearly blows the hood off the bonnet. Lucky I'm a tank and was able to hold it down ;)

So, two countdowns have begun.

Next friday (the 5th of November) is the day I a) get my eMac and b) when I go to Wagga for the weekend.

The eMac signifies that they are serious about graphics at my company. Which is slightly overdue, but hey, they finally woke up, so I'm not gonna complain about that.

As for Wagga, I think I'll have to keep you remotely posted on my trip away ;) could be an eventful weekend.

Oh, and sneaky slak decided he start a blog without telling me. So you know what, I'm gonna link to it so that everybody can read what he says. Which admittedly isn't a great deal, but he did write something, so people should read it :P

Yeah..

Oh, yeah, the link >.<

Heh heh heh

Good afternoon peeps!

How was your weekend? Mine was OK.

Went to see the Cat Empire *toodles off to check whether the Cat Empire show has been discussed already.. seems not*

Well The Cat Empire are a jazz pop band from Melbourne and they go OFF live! Each song was about twice as long (if not longer) as their album equivalent! It was a most enjoyable experience. Except for the waiting; we got in there at 9 and they didn't go on stage until 10:45. The support played great music, but it wasn't rev up music, it was chill-out music. That coupled with all the pot smoke in the venue nearly put us to sleep.

Waking up on saturday morning with a sore throat was a nasty side-effect, but I guess that was one of the sacrifices made to ensure a good night out.

Saturday night was a good one spent at Bridie O'Reilly's in Brunswick (the local watering hole). It was good to catch up with Joey. And I got to meet his missus. She's an interesting one. I don't know how they put up with each other to be quite honest :P

Sunday I went to St Kilda beach and kicked the footy. Then went to my dads for a barbeque dinner.

Not a terribly exciting weekend, but by no stretch of the imagination a bad one :)

*yawn*

Well I had a nice 12 hour sleep last night. Got home, went to my room to do some comic stuff and I wake up a few hours later after hearing my car alarm go off. Damn cats jumping on my car!

Went back to my room, started watching O.C. mpgs and woke up this morning at 730 when my alarm went off.

Sorry Lukey.

Got the Cat Empire concert tonight! Should be good :) Good to get out and about, meeting random people, and good because I hear the Empire go off live. Sprinkle a liberal amount of alcohol and you have the recipe for an awesome night ;)

Well I'm the only one in design today, so I'll be flat out, but hopefully I can get some of my own stuff done at lunch time :)

Oh, PS:

I'm in love with Samaire Armstrong, she *currently* plays Anna on "The O.C." here in Australia (and I'm well aware that she'll be leaving my TV screen shortly, so there's no need for you US readers to cut me down :P).

Why is it that I can't seem to hold onto the loves of my life for very long? :P
Wow!

So I went to my housemate Mel's final performance night last night (she studies Music Performance at JMC Academy in South Melbourne, and next year her course is changed to a Bachelor of Arts Degree and thus has the practical element taken out of it).

It went OFF!

Mel sang Hella Good (No Doubt) and Better (Screaming Jets) and she did both songs justice IMHO :)

Prior, during and after that was copious amounts of alcoholic beverage consumption by myself, Chris (Mel's boyfriend), Kieran (Chris's bro) and Mark. I didn't get to bed until about 4am, after counselling one of Mel's friends Elena about her ex-boyfriend (who she 'loves') for the better part of 2 hours. During this time I did a very drunken caricature of her (which she didn't seem to think was *too* bad. Damn, these people are easy to please ;) unlike you guys :P)

Progress on the comics has sloooowwwwwwwed this week. I'm hoping to turn that around tonight, I'm feeling somewhat inspired, dunno why. I'm trying to decide though, whether I'm in a writing or a drawing mood. Hmm, I think I'll have to consult time on this one.

I'll let yer know later on ;)

So I finally got over my fear of the free weights room last night. I swear there's enough testosterone in there to flood a small island nation.. like Indonesia :P

Sure, I had my housemate's boyfriend in there with me, who is pretty big, but the main thing is I did my bench presses and only thought about the snide looks I was getting half the time. Talk about intimidating!

These people have more blood pumping through the veins bulging out of their heads than I have flowing through my body!

We're getting an EMAC!! WOOOOHOOOOOO!

This is at work I mean, not at home *sigh*

This'll mean I can do artwork on a dedicated machine. At the moment I have to do allllll sorts of things on my pc, which bogs it down and everything gets all icky.

Should be getting it next week.

In the spirit of things I've transformed my PC with a Mac-styled theme from TGTSoft's StyleXP, which can be found here for you curious types -->

Thought for the day: Positive thinking is the key that will open any door.

:)

The script for this new project just keeps flowing. It's wonderful :) So far 10 pages of the first issue have been scripted. All 18 pages have been roughly thumbnailed (that's a tautology isn't it? Nevermind, you know what I mean) and I sat down to try to draw the first couple of pages, and I couldn't do it. Whether I wasn't in the right frame of mind to be drawing (pardon the comic pun) or my body wouldn't let me draw until I'd completed the script to issue remains to be seen.

I will say, however, that I haven't forgotten about the regular comic. I should do a bit of work on that this week, there's still a fair few issues to resolve methinks..

Sunday, October 17, 2004

Hi all. Sorry I haven't uploaded or blogged in a while. As I said in one of my previous posts, I've been distracted of late. It was in fact one of the worst possible distractions: a girl.

Yeah, well, normally a distracting girl would be a great thing, however, when she lives a ways away and you're not entirely sure, but you get the impression, that she might not actually like you the way you like her, it's a bad thing. Trust me :P

This week has been completely horrible, probably because of how awesome the weekend previous was. It's terrible not being able to think about things properly. All week long, every thought has had to compete with second-guessing and every decision I had to make was an ordeal because I was constantly doubting myself.

That and that feeling of loneliness you get when you feel like you don't have anyone to talk to that will understand you. To those people that were there for me to talk to about this very childish of issues, thanks heaps, you made all the difference, believe me :)

Just need to claw my way back to reality now ;)

See you there real soon :P

Friday, October 15, 2004

I've been finding it hard to concentrate of late. I have a couple of things on my mind at the moment, the main one I know is something that will take a bit of time to resolve, so stressing over it is an exercise in futility.

*sigh* But yeah, when I can get my thoughts in order without being distracted by something in particular there'll be a new comic. Don't worry, it's a good distraction.

I know I'm being cryptic, but there are perfectly good reasons for that. I want to be able to talk about this issue, but there are other parties that would probably not appreciate it.

Let's leave it there :P

Sometimes I really hate working with family.

Oh, and the "Wheelie Bin of Fortune" went off today. A prize of $50,000 went off. The clues were quite stupid. For more information

OMG! LOOK! A comic! *darts off in opposite direction*

Tuesday, October 12, 2004

Well, surprise sur-fricken-prise... no comic :P

Yeah, I was tired.. so shoot me :P

Don't worry, I'm sure it will be finished at some stage today..

Comic should be up sometime tonight..

I had a brilliant weekend. Which all started on friday night with me getting absolutely shitfaced at the Coburg Districts Presentation Night. It was great. Details are patchy at best :P

Saturday was a recovery day that consisted of voting and numbing my senses to a near-catatonic state in order to stomach watching A Cinderella Story. It seems that when in this state, most anything can be entertaining.

I was the luckiest man on earth (well that's how it would have seemed to lookers-on) on saturday night, as I got to escort two of the loveliest ladies I know out on the town.

Sundays weather was so damn good that Emma and myself (Emma being my housemates sister) made a trip down to St. Kilda beach and laughed at a melodramatic girl who scream "OH MY GOD!" at the top of her lungs when a pair of jeans got blown into the water off the pier. Then proceeded to jump straight in after them. I bike nearly went in too, that would have been funny :P

That was about the highlight, apart from this lump of something that looked alive, but at the same time looked like a football-sized hunk of poo.

The weekend was capped off nicely by the first night of the 4400 and pizza :D

So as you can see, I didn't have a whole lot of time to fit much comic in. I managed to get everything inked and scanned. But that's about as much time as I had available to commit. As it is I only got 4 hours sleep on saturday night.. So after I go to the gym this arvo and finish the comic, I think it's straight to bed fer me..

Friday, October 08, 2004

Yeah.. I'm kinda in a potty-mouth mood today :P That and I can't be arsed being motivated to do anything work related..
I fucken hate parking inspectors. Especially the ones that decide that they won't put a ticket on your car but send you out a final infringement notice for $79.40! Grrr.. not happy jan..
Fucken stupid piece of shit fucken printer.

*pant* *pant* OK. Now for the explanation for the rant above. Not that it really needs one.. last night, I'm all set to ink whilst I'm watching Monster (a nasty movie btw), so I scan my pencils on, do some cleaning up and convert the lines to blue and press print.. the printer makes some noise so I get up to get a drink cos I know it'll take a couple of minutes.. I get back to my computer and lo and behold nothing has printed. So stopping short of rebooting the computer (cos that would have taken too long and I was being nagged like you wouldn't believe by my housemate to come watch the movie), I pretty much did everything I could to make the bloody shit print. *sigh*

I guess I'll have to print them at work and ink them here.. on my lunchbreak.. again..

Footy presentation night tonight! I'm so excited, I haven't seen alot of the guys from footy for about 2 months now, it'll be great to catch up with them. And get drunk.. :P

Thursday, October 07, 2004

Well, first three panels are pencilled. I'm gonna keep drawing sneakily all day. Shhh! Don't tell anyone!

I'm executing my illustrations soooo much better today, I did two panels during lunch and they turned out pretty well. I think it's the change in equipment. I was using a .5mm HB technical pencil or "pacer" and it just wasn't cutting it. So I switched to the traditional Faber-Castell HB pencil and the lines and man - the drawings are coming thick and fast. I think I was pressing too hard with the pacer, whereas the pencil skates across the page nicely. Could also be the paper. *shrugs* Whatever it WAS it's now fixed :)

Teh poster!

Teh poster!
I was naughty last night.

I didn't work on comic *blush* instead I made a poster for my lounge room wall. All that means is today during my lunch break I'll be working flatout on pencils and I'll have to stay up til 2am tonight. What do I care, tomorrow is friday anyway! You don't have to be very awake to work here :P

The weather is shocking outside this morning! I nearly had some wheelie bins flatten my car! That's a tiny exaggeration, but I swear they had murder in their eyes when they toppled over 15cms from my car!

I have more cherry CARTON alterations to do today. Ho hum. I don't think I'll be able to eat cherries after I'm done with all of these designs.

Somethings wrong with me. This is the second morning IN A ROW that I've had breakfast. *looks aghast*

Anyway, the new website is well on it's way to being finished. Lukey decided to take my comments the other day to heart, and has begun development in earnest. Actually I think he took offence to just how horrendous my coding was :P

Apparently the homepage is mostly done; now the challenging part: the gallery page. The GP is going to be a separate page that spawns once clicked upon, and every image stored in the database will be accessible from that point. Very cool if I do say so myself. I think the only thing that Lukey needs is for me to finalise the art and layout for that page.

Soon, my pretties, soon.

Tuesday, October 05, 2004

If your idea of fun is shooting one's self repeatedly in the head with a nailgun, discuss politics with an ignorant person.

Now I'm off to surgery to remove the 50 billion nails I shot into my head last night..

Monday, October 04, 2004

Comic: UP! Only 19 hours late, give or take 30 mins. *sigh* I was even sneaky and did some at work! It just wasn't working last night, and I didn't want to post an half-arsed comic so I waited a 19 hours and posted a two-third-arsed one instead ;)

Now I guess I should go home and do some washing and drying so I have some clothes to wear for the week. Ahh the wonders of living by one's self *sigh*

Sunday, October 03, 2004

Hey everybody, how has your weekend been? Mine's been ok. Except this weeks comic is giving me the shits. I swear I'm about *this* close to scrapping the whole lot and starting again from scratch! I'm gonna take a break from it I think. It, if all goes to plan, should be posted tonight by 10.

Friday, October 01, 2004

I saw AVP last night. Was OK. I enjoyed it :) I liked the first battle between the Predator youngling and the alien. All I'm gonna say is damn I love "the airplane" :D

One more panel to ink *blush* I know I know. I'm leaving it a bit late, but I don't really have much planned for this weekend so it shouldn't be an issue really. I'll finish the inking within an hour of getting home and then the colouring will commence.

Just on a total side-note, the thought just occurred to me to mention that when I said I was working on "Young Cherry Boxes" I meant I was designing the artwork for Cartons that have Cherries in them for the Young region of New South Wales. At no stage did I mean anything other than that, and you people that may have thought that I did should get your heads out of the gutter. You know who you are :P

Now that I have explained that, it won't sound so bad when I tell you I've spent most of today at work ordering.. TOOLING ..for the cherry cartons. Yep.

So my housemate's sister comes down to Melbourne this saturday. And may I say, in the eternal words of Harold Lee "hhhhhhoooOOOTTTtt". *blush* uhm, *gulp* yeah, she's kinda cute :P I'm glad neither her nor my housemate reads this :P

So I don't know when my new website is going to go up, I might end up having to put up the disgustingly coded mock-up I made for my webmaster Lukey to play with if he hasn't done something with it soon. Otherwise I'm gonna get sick of the design and will have to redesign it before it goes up! LOL. Fuck I get sick of things quickly..
