I hate being sick!
Now *wipes hands* that the unpleasentries are aside I would like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season.
That is all.
Make with the booze and food already.
Man I love the BlogThis! button. Best thing I evar did!
I actually saved some money this week. Well I thought I had before I realised I'd spent just as much as usual, but I had actually used my credit card for it. Damn credit, it'll be the death of me dammit.
I saw Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events today. Very, very good imagery. I'm not familiar with the books so I can't comment if it was an accurate representation or not. The acting, I thought, was superb. Emily Browning (who is from Melbourne) is going to be big in the next couple of years methinks. She has *a lot* of acting talent. Jim Carrey was good, as he always is..
Just on Emily Browning, I looked her up on the imdb to see what her experience was and when I scrolled to the bottom of the page I stumbled upon the forum.. let me just say that there are some weird, very, very uptight and immature people in the world.. and they all happen to like this actress.
Good for her :)
Just a few updates:
• New BlogThis! button at the top of this window *points*. This is mainly for my ease of use, I can click on it to make quick blogs etc without having to use Iexplore all the time to do it.
• I think all links open up in a new window now.
Now, I got my webcam yesterday and got comfortable with seeing my head on the screen. Weird feeling though. Anyway, I'm thinking about having a cam portal on the site, I figure, why not, other people have it. *shrugs* I need to learn a little bit more about the subject first though.
Work's shit. Knee's sore. And damn I need to start doing christmas shopping. *rolls eyes*
ok, I'd update the news scroller, but for some reason I don't have access to my webserver from my home computer..
Anyway, we won basketball tonight (by we I mean the team cos I couldn't play due to my knee) against Los Penguinos by 15 points (again, I think). We didn't play very well. They were a very (I'm resisting the urge to say shit, so I'm thinking..) crap team, and we let them get to within 4 points of us. *shakes head*
So now we have our 6 week break, and hopefully *crosses fingers* that I can play in the first game back! Woohoo!
Hi all. Firstly, an update on my knee.
I saw the physio yesterday. He ran a couple of general tests and said that it seemed to him that all I have damaged is the lateral ligament (the ligament on the outside of the knee). I have to go back on friday and get it checked again when the swelling goes down. There may still be some cartilage damage that the physio hasn't seen yet. If not, I'll be out of action for 4-6 weeks. That's a good thing. If there is cartilage damage, it may be a couple more weeks cos I may need to have an arthroscope done. Nasty.
Anyway, I was thinking of buying a webcam today. I've wanted to for the last couple of weeks. I don't know who'd view it, but it would be cool to have it there, just cos. :P That's what I'm telling myself anyway ;)
So, physio today at 12.20 to assess the damage.
I guess I'll be listening to mp3's all day today.. don't you hate those stupid radio stations that let you tune them in, only to have them detune (untune?) - untunify (HA!) themselves 15 minutes later? I've been having a losing battle with one of said radio stations for the past week or so. Today, the battle is over and the war has been won. Sleep well little radio, you fought valiantly, but in the end, you were in way over your head.. hey, at least I'm taking the loss positively, or is that denial? *shrugs*
Fucken did my right knee tonight. Not happy.
You know what shits me? People that just can't get over shit. Like my ex-girlfriend Abby Grave for example. We haven't seen each other for something like 3 months, and we didn't part on very good terms. I was sooo angry with her at the time, but I've moved on.
Now I heard from a good friend this morning that she has been 'campaigning' against me with her friends. We've never really had a good relationship but I didn't think there was any real need to bitch about me. I thought, as adults, we were past the wrongs of the past. But apparently I was wrong.
If she's reading this, or any people that know her are, I sincerely hope she can move on soon, because holding onto a grudge will only do harm to herself. I don't want her to go to the trouble of doing all this and being petty because I don't really care what she thinks. Just seems a waste of time and resources.
Oh. My. God..
I started my normal routine this morning pleasently with my bowl of cereal in front of the computer screen checking up on all the comic updates.
That's when I read this. Apparently some assclowns are making a film version of Doom. Now I use the term assclown as they have decided to make some 'necessary' script changes. A lot of people are complaining that this Doom movie isn't being set on Mars. Quite frankly that doesn't bother me as Doom was set on Phobos, Doom2 was set on Earth and Doom3 was set on Mars. As long as it's set in space (which it looks like it is) it should be ok, right?
Wrong. Dead wrong.
You see, the other 'necessary' script changes are as follows, and brace yourself because random violent bleeding can occur from your nose and ears from the rage you will feel inside: All references to Hell have been removed..
Yup..
When the space SWAT team (as that's how they have been described by the schlok-writer whose last name is credited as CallaHAM <-- HA!), not marines, show up they are set upon by what seems like aliens. Ok, that seems alright, but when the truth comes out, it seems that these aliens were really humans all the time, just mutated by a nasty experimental virus..
Resident Evil anyone?
I mean, how hard is it to make a movie like a game? The transition can't be THAT hard, surely. Steal the story from Doom3 (which seemed fairly good to me) and just add a couple more people to make a 'team' that will be picked off one by one in heartwrenching (literally) scenes. Voila. That wasn't so hard now was it?
*pouts*
So we rocked the house stadium tonight! Another win (however this was the first game of the season, last week was a grading game), and this time, by 10 (or so points). We started off pretty slow but found a bit of form about 3 minutes to go in the first half when we hit the lead. We not only managed to hold onto that lead but stretch it out and win fairly comfortably. It was apparent they had nothing left in the tank.
So I went upto the servo just before to get tasty snacks and we noticed the flashing lights of a police car. So after we bought said treats we went for a sticky-beak. Unfortunately we had missed the engrossing action, but we gathered that two cars had been dragging and stacked into a pole. Or something equally as dramatic. But this got me thinking that the lights are meant to warn people to stay clear, and that there is a caution right?
But all they seem to do is attract people. I give it 10 years until society goes into a meltdown where the police force is run by corporations and they adopt a "Proposition: Feline" stance on people that perve at incidents like that. This proposition consists of killing any curious people on-site. Excluding the media of course - you have to make breaking news somehow, and if people can't see it in the streets without getting shot, then they sure as hell are gonna watch it on TV. Kinda like exclusive rights to sporting events.. like boxing.
See I got it all worked out..
I think it's time for bed, my throat is very sore. Oh, speaking of which, the size of the ulcer is now 10cm in diameter. That's just a rough estimate (my mouth, despite what some people make think of me, is not big enough to fit a ruler into) but if anything it is actually bigger than that (the ulcer, that is, not my mouth)!! Next thing you know I'll be waking up with a gaping hole in the back of my neck.. and believe me, that's gonna tickle like razerblades..
So work has been so flat out this week so far that I managed to write a plan for a 12 issue 18-20 page comic series. Yeah, I've been struggling with it for a couple of months now and today was just the day when all of a sudden, it all came to me. It felt terrific. But that all happened before lunch.
Now I'm struggling to stay awake. It's one of those kind of predicaments where I think that if I apply my mind to something then the use of the brainpower may make me more sleepy, inevitably putting me into a deep slumber. Something I don't think my boss would be too pleased about, lack of work or no.
I think the main thing keeping me awake (apart from the fear of incurring the wrath of my boss) is the incredible pain I'm feeling in my throat due to an ulcer. You know those annoying little ulcers you get just inside your mouth that sting? Yeah, well I tend to get massive ones all around my mouth every 4-6 months or so, and this (I think) is the first one I've had in my throat. I can't apply anything to it. I guess gargling saltwater would help, but unfortunately there is no salt here at work.
I might do a few scribbles if I can get away with it, but I think holding my breath could be a dangerous as closing my eyes for more than a blink.
*yawn*
Well I'm gonna go find some caffeine and some sugar, perhaps in the form of chocolate will be good..
Ok, you know how I posted that "Bored Sketchin'" drawing last friday? Well, I completed it friday afternoon when I got home. So here it is:
So for some reason my blog wouldn't update yesterday, so it looks as though I've blogged twice today.
Look I don't know if I've blogged about this already, if I have it's something I want to talk about again cos it's fresh in my mind, and that's the eMac. Yes, I know I told you all I was getting it, and I'm pretty sure I told you when I did finally get it, but I don't think I've said anything since.
Well, let's just say I won't be doing any massive graphics work on it anytime soon. It has about as much grunt as half of the PC I work on all the time. The only benefit we get from the eMac is being able to open Mac formatted discs (I still can't understand why the Windows system is unable to do this). Once the files have been extracted and saved to the server we can then use our PC's to edit and save the files. The other benefit we have is being able to listen to mp3's without slowing down our workstations. Or listen to internet radio without having Illustrator and Photoshop going into meltdown. However, Virgin Radio (or our network) is patchy as all hell, and it takes 5 mins for a 2 min song to finish!
*sigh* It's ok now, we've rebuffered. I guess the one thing that I can say about the eMac is it is VERY stable. It hasn't crashed, applications haven't crashed and generally, although it takes a long time to process, it can do anything. I guess what I'm saying is that it's not exactly a paperweight, although I'm sure it could handle that task very well and look good at the same time.
